This year was the 3rd annual Pre-Lecture Social in the Grove at Stanford University. Bay area landscape architects traveled from as far as San Jose and San Francisco to network and enjoy a drink under Stanford's historic oak trees. There was a special guest appearance by Mark Rios, from Rios Clementi Hale Studios in Los Angeles, before giving his lecture to a crowd of over 140 people. Following the social Rios inspired the crowd with his top five favorite artists, which included Milton Avery, Alexander Girard, Sister Mary Corita, Mary Fedden, and Martha Longenecker. He encouraged the audience to discover what inspires them by looking at the ecology and culture that surrounds them.
