This past weekend, ASLA in partneship with the Utah chapter hosted the 2019 Advocacy Summit in Salt Lake City, Utah. The summit included representatives from 31 chapters who focused on building and improving chapter advocacy efforts for licensure and other state issues. The summit included a tour of the newly constructed S-Line public transit streetcar and surrounding landscape projects. ASLA continues to battle recurrent deregulation threats as numerous state legislatures, governors, and interest groups continue to aggressively advocate for less regulation. Today, landscape architecture licensure continues in all 50 states due to ASLA and the chapters' ability to effectively demonstrate the importance of licensure to the public's health, safety, and welfare, and for creating jobs and economic growth.
