Social media:
Is A) an easy way to check out funny cat gifs and brownie recipes?
or B) a tool for connecting and communicating?

The correct answer is both! The ASLA Northern California Chapter (#ASLANCC) has been continuing to focus on the latter, especially in April, which is World Landscape Architecture Month (#WLAM2017).

GWO-INSTAGRAM24ASLA national invited all chapters in the nation to participate in WLAM in a special way in 2017. All chapters are having a separate day to takeover ASLA National’s Instagram account, in which we could post whatever our heart’s desire.

The ASLANCC put out a call for participants, and received some excellent, high quality submissions, and flooded the ASLA National Instagram account.

One of our submissions had the second highest grossing “likes” ever on a photo (over 1,500!), and reached viewers all over the world. This is particularly exciting to the chapter, because we were able to engage with a wide variety of people (the public internet) and show all how wonderful the Northern California members are!

While Instagram takeover day was only one day for ASLANCC, World Landscape Architecture Month continues through April, and you are still able to participate!

Tag photos in with #WLAM2017 and #ASLANCC, retweet on Twitter, drop a line on Facebook, or just say hello in email. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to PR@asla-ncc.org.
