Symposium: Saturday, June 8th
Submissions Due: Saturday, April 6th

Save the date for Saturday, June 8th for ASLA Northern California Chapter’s first local symposium! This occasion is a valuable opportunity for landscape architects and allied design and engineering professionals who work in the built environment to come together and exchange ideas. We will explore innovative approaches to addressing regional challenges collectively, ranging from wildfires, floods, and loss of biodiversity, to homelessness and urban flight in once vibrant downtowns.

Under the theme of “The Changing Form and Function of the Northern California Landscape”, this year’s symposium aims to dissect design and social challenges through a multi-disciplinary perspective. We seek to uncover creative solutions beyond conventional practices. Landscape architects are invited to become moderators, and bring in experts from all collaborating disciplines – architects, engineers, developers, ecologists, artists – to dive deep into specialized topics with diverse approaches. In addition to presentations and panel discussions, we encourage creative proposals for interactive and innovative event formats.

All submission materials should be emailed in PDF format (no larger than 5 MB) to admin@asla-ncc.org with the title “ASLA-NCC 2024 Landscape x Symposium – Open Call Submission”, no later than Saturday, April 6, 2024, 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
