ASLA Career Discovery and Diversity Extends Travel Award to 2019 Diversity Summit Participant, Patricia Algara, ASLA, Principal, BASE Landscape Architecture

ASLA Career Discovery and Diversity is awarding 2019 Diversity Summit participant, Patricia Algara, with a travel award to support her participation in the 46th APIMONDIA International Apicultural Congress, September 8-9, 2019 in Montreal. The conference will place heavy emphasis on how to better design cities to incorporate pollinator habitats and how to work with farms to increase nature and habitat buffer zones.

Algara's abstract "Pesticides and Pollinators: Policy, Practice, Activism" was accepted, and she is excited to highlight the landscape architecture profession to the audience of scientists. Algara says it's crucial for landscape architects to "show up at conferences where we are the only ones there; speak to new audiences about who we are and what we do."

This conference is a big part of the work she does at BASE and her non-profit With Honey in The Heart https://www.withhoneyintheheart.com/.
