Following the ASLA-NCC statement in support and solidarity with Black people and Black Lives Matter, (read the full statement here), the Chapter has worked to establish an understanding of the current state of our Chapter, acknowledged our strengths, weaknesses and opportunities surrounding Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and has created an Action Plan to bring about change in our organization and the profession.
We recognize our Chapter, and the greater profession, have a long way to go, but today we share a framework to move forward into the future. A future where our Chapter and profession is just, equitable, diverse and welcoming to all. Your ASLA-NCC Chapter recognizes it is the time to take action and we are compelled to the following measures:
Commit: to sustainable and accountable actions
Educate: ourselves, our members, local firms and the greater public
Open up Opportunities: to create and inclusive and accessible chapter
Be Intentional: in everything our Chapter does
We encourage all ASLA-NCC members to get involved. If you are interested in serving on the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, please email Chapter President, Blake Rhinehart @ brhinehart@asla-ncc.org
