Entry Level - Early Career Landscape Associate
Early career/Entry Level Landscape Designer:
About the position: Landscape Designer will be involved in all facets of the design process for typical projects consisting of: community development projects, models and sales complexes, single family residential, and small to medium commercial and institutional projects. We are typically involved with projects from conceptual through construction documentation, and some construction administration. You’ll get a chance to work on construction details, layout plans, irrigation plans, planting plans, street tree plans, lighting plans, grading, and circulation plans. You’ll have opportunities to create unique spaces for models and sales complexes, large common areas such as a community pool, or play area. Typical career trajectory: you’ll grow into a Project Manager, and learn how to manage a multitude of projects at various stages, participate and conduct meetings, and correspond with other disciplines: civil engineers, architects, developers, material vendors, nurseries, etc. You also might conduct field walks, write proposals, and help set up fun office events such as a lunch and learn presentation. The position is based in our Walnut Creek, CA office. In time, you can work a hybrid remote/in-office.
About us: Ripley Design Group, Inc., founded in 1986, provides comprehensive services from Landscape Architecture to Land Planning. We have experience with a wide range of projects, including the design of parks, residential communities (both multi-family and single family), model homes, resorts, health care, commercial and institutional projects. Currently on our books are several large community development projects for both single family homes and multi-family complexes, smaller community development projects, parkways, commercial centers, a church, a couple of small schools, and several single family residential homes. Our projects span across the entire Bay Area, well into Northern California, and valley. We are located in the heart of vibrant downtown Walnut Creek, close to BART, freeways, the Iron Horse trail, and many restaurants. You’ll have plenty of food options, all within a few blocks of the office. You can see Mt. Diablo from our office and we are dog friendly.
About you: Someone passionate, driven, and eager to learn about all things landscape architecture and wants to gain a great deal of experience working on all facets of design. Bachelors or higher in Landscape Architecture. Necessary skills include: Autocad, MS Office suite, Adobe suite, plant knowledge, and interpersonal communication. Other skills might be: previous project management experience, rendering, marketing, and IT. Ideally, you are local to the East Bay Area, and within a reasonable commute to Walnut Creek.
