Tournesol, a long time sponsor of ASLA-NCC, was asked by Director Gifford Bautista if they would host an ASLA-NCC Lecture and Facility Tour event, and without skipping a beat, agreed. With some coordination the event was scheduled June 9, 2017 at Tournesol’s Union City Facility, where Member’s and guests were treated to a presentation video, by Troy Nottingham, Tournesol representative, which qualified for 1 PDH credit.

After the presentation, which covered roof garden installation issues, custom Tournesol products which solve installation issues, and suggestions for the designer when working over difficult roof top situations, the group was given a very informative tour of the facility by Tournesol President, Chris Lyon. Chris described the various products, showed the group the creation of fiberglass planters, finishing tricks, painting, storing incoming raw planters and outgoing finished planters, and the creation of tree root barriers and self-watering containers, all with the latest technology at each step of the process. Tournesol is known for assisting the designer at each step of their project, ensuring the proper products are specified, custom fabrication where the site conditions require it, and standard and custom finishes to suit project needs. The Tournesol system is efficient, the representatives, staff and fabricators are most helpful and the products are at the highest level of quality.
