QUARTERLY MEETING

Attendees: Melissa Mourkas, Meg Glynn, Gretchen Hilyard, Julie Cain, Marlea Graham, Cate Bainton, Les Tabata, Kathleen Green, Jennifer de Graaf, Cathy Garrett, Janet Gracyk, and Chris Pattillo. Douglas Nelson joined us at the cemetery.
Mark your calendar for the next meeting: The Lake Chalet on Lake Merritt in Oakland, August 16, 2011 at 4pm.
This was the first Saturday garden tour HALS gathering and was held in lieu of the May meeting. We toured the following properties:
- Stanford Mansion State Historic Park: Cathy Garrett led us through a tour of the two properties that today make up the Stanford Mansion State Historic Park.
- Governor's Mansion State Historic Park: Melissa Mourkas led us through the grounds and John Brown led a tour of the mansion. Having spent time in the house as a child visiting his grandparents and now as a representative of State Parks, John's perspective is unique. John kindly set up tables in the garden for an outdoor lunch.
- Historic City Cemetery: Lynda Walls, board member and past president of the Old City Cemetery Committee and Doug Nelson led us through the cemetery explaining the master plan and adopt a plot program.
