We hope this website promotes the documentation, preservation, and enjoyment of historic landscapes in California. CHAPTER NEWS

Due to disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Heritage Documentation Programs, NPS has made the reluctant decision to suspend the Charles E. Peterson Prize Competition for 2020. Entries received will be included in the 2021 competition.
The NPS-HALS office is temporarily closed. Staff can be reached by e-mail and telephone. During this time, please do not ship any packages to the HALS office in Washington, DC. Updates to HALS operations will be posted to the HDP website.
