DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to invite you to an evening lecture with Charlotte Zhang\, Partner at July & Partners\, a landscape architecture practice based in China and Japan with projects primarily across Asia. The studio is known for its thoughtful approach to garden design\, material expression\, and the spatial craft of landscape. \nIn this talk\, Observations: On Garden\, Stone\, and Spatial Practice\, Charlotte will share reflections from her design practice and research on garden traditions and contemporary landscape work. The lecture will explore ways of understanding nature in garden design\, offer comparative insights into Chinese and Japanese garden traditions\, and discuss the tectonic and spatial role of stone in shaping garden spaces. Charlotte will also share selected recent projects and the evolving direction of the practice. DESCRIPTION:In celebration of World Landscape Architecture Month\, ASLA Northern California Chapter is thrilled to \npartner with the Presidio Trust and landscape architects Chip Sullivan and Elizabeth Boults for a \nmagical journey in search of the genius loci—the spirit of place. \nJoin us at Presidio Tunnel Tops for an immersive afternoon of drawing\, field sketching\, and collage. We \nwill begin at the Western Lawn (near the Presidio Visitor Center) and explore the site through observation and creative expression. At the conclusion of the event\, participants are invited to share their sketches and reflections\, bringing their experiences to life. \nThis event is FREE and open to all\, whether you’re a designer\, artist\, student\, or simply curious. \nPlease REGISTER by April 24th.
